Five Eisenhower Knights and two Sheffield Wolverines are a part of the final Pennsylvania 40-man roster for the Big 30 All-Star Charities Classic at 7 p.m. Aug. 5 at Parkway Field in Bradford.

Jim Penley will be Pennsylvania head coach for the third time in his 20 years as Eisenhower head coach. He previously coached the Big 30 game in 2006 and 2015. This time, he will be bringing — in addition to his coaching staff — graduated Knights in running back/middle linebacker Benji Bauer, receiver/cornerback Garrett Jensen, tackle Mike Vanatta, center/tackle Conner Younger, and guard/linebacker Caleb Penley. Penley, Jensen and Vanatta have fathers on the Pennsylvania coaching staff.

“Honestly, my son playing has not impacted it,” said Coach Penley. “I’m excited for him to work with some awesome teammates, but like at EHS, I am a coach first, always have been. I forgot he was at practice last night, I was too involved coaching the offensive team. I know, as a dad, I will look at it and enjoy it after the game. But both of us are very driven competitors and all we care about is getting the win. Afterwards, like in high school, we will sit down and watch it and reflect.”

The 2022 Eisenhower football team will go down as one of the winningest teams ever in Warren County as it finished the regular season with the first 10-0 mark in school history, ending 11-1 overall after falling to Reynolds 28-14 in the District 10 championship game. The Knights were the only team in District 10 to finish undefeated during the regular season.

Bauer — who rushed for over 2,000 yards with 24 touchdowns — was named all-state by Pennsylvania Football News, as was Caleb Penley. Penley was recognized by PFN at outside linebacker, where he had 63 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, one sack, an interception and a fumble recovery. In 12 games, opponents rushed for minus-28 yards on his side.

Bauer and Penley were joined as Region 2 first-team offensive all-stars by offensive lineman Vanatta. Joining Bauer and Penley as first-team all-region defensive all-stars was Jensen, who had three interceptions, including one for a touchdown.

Vanatta was also a second-team all-region all-star at defensive tackle. Younger — a four-year starting center — was voted a second-team Region 2 all-star.

In addition to the Knights, two Sheffield Wolverines are on the Pennsylvania roster — District 9 Region 3 all-star offensive lineman and three-sport standout Matthew Lobdell and running back-fullback/defensive end Gage Mott-Macalush, another three-sport standout.

The rest of the Pennsylvania roster includes Bradford’s Troy Adkins and Alex Gamgloff; Cameron County’s Jameson Britton, Brevin Lewis and Eyan Smith; Coudersport’s David Barshinger, Xander Brown and Cooper Rossman; Elk County’s David Anderson and Joe Tettis; Kane’s Lucas Burrs, Landon Darr, Addison Plants, Aaron Smith, Scott Szymanski and Ricky Zampogna; Otto-Eldred’s Brendan Magee, Blaze Maholic and Isaac Shaw; Port Allegany’s Noah Archer, Gavin Burgess, Drew Evens (quarterback) and Blaine Moses; Ridgway-Johnsonburg’s Marcus Crowe; Smethport’s Hayden Leet, Aiden McKean, Ryan Pelchy and Keegan Watson; and St. Marys’ Carter Chadsey, Charlie Coudriet (quarterback), Clay Grazioli, Logan Mosier and Carter Price.

Pennsylvania won last year’s game and has won six of 10 to hold a 23-22-3 all-time mark.

The New York 40-man roster for longtime Frewsburg head coach Terry Gray includes Allegany-Limestone’s Anthony DeCapua, Ahren Faller, Eric Furlong, Andrew Giardini, Jacob Herbert, Jake Parris and Gabe Ramadhan; Cattaraugus-Little Valley’s Hunter McInerney and Raiden Terhune; Cuba-Rushford’s Dominic Bello, Clifford Karn and Haven Kellogg; Franklinville/Ellicottville’s Ben Brol, Koda Curtis, Tyler Gibas, Brad John, Gian Nuzzo (all-state Class D at quarterback), Christian Swalcy and Hayden Trietley; Frewsburg’s Draven DeJesus and Pat Spencer; Gowanda/Pine Valley’s Ben Krajewski; Olean’s Cade Anastasia, Chris Bargy and Lucas Brushingham; Pioneer’s Walker Bekiel, Maverick Cass, Dakota Krygier, Devin Matuszak, Mateo Rodriguez and Kyle Stover; Portville’s Ben Isaman, Kyran Johnson and Caiden Zollinger; Randolph’s Dillon Schrader; Salamanca’s Jason McGraw and Jaxon Tarr; and Southwestern’s Matt Burlingame, William Hoden and Chris Miller.
