Dragons win Brookville Tournament
BROOKVILLE — For the second straight season, Warren’s boys basketball team is 2-0 after winning the Brookville Tipoff Tournament.
The Dragons turned a four-point first-quarter lead into a 16-point halftime lead en route to a 53-34 win over host Brookville on Saturday in the championship game at Brookville Area High School.
“I thought tonight we were better defensively with our on-the-ball defense,” said Warren coach Jeff Berdine. “Our help defense was improved, and we also rebounded very well as a team. Tommy (Nyquist) did an excellent job on (Jack) Pete and both Logan (Crissey) and Chase (Sitler) stayed connected to (Kellen) Haines with most of his points in the second half coming after game was decided.”
Offensively, Warren senior Braylon Barnes scored 10 of his team-high 18 points in the Dragons’ 19-7 second quarter.
Barnes was named tournament MVP, and was joined on the all-tournament team by Nyquist.
Crissey finished with 16 points and Brady Berdine 10 in the win.
Warren next hosts Seneca in a non-region game on Wednesday at Warren Area High School.
