8th annual NY/PA Corporate Cup is July 28

The date is fast approaching for the eighth annual NY/PA Corporate Cup Soccer Showcase pitting the top local boys and girls high school soccer players from each state against each other.

Four games will be played Sunday, July 28 at Kane High School. The Girls Silver game will kick things off at noon, followed by the Boys Silver game at 2:30 p.m. The Girls Gold game is scheduled for 5 p.m. with the Boys Gold game to follow.

The New York boys currently hold a 5-2 record over the Pennsylvania boys, while the girls are tied with 3-3 records.

Two hundred and forty players from 45 of the region’s high schools tried out for this year’s games with 175 making the final cut. Admission is free for the four games. A pregame ceremony will begin 30 minutes prior to each match’s start time. There will be six food trucks on-site.

The Pennsylvania Girls Silver team’s head coach will be Curwensville’s Chris Kurtz. He will be assisted by Kane’s Brittany Sprankle and Ridgway-Johnsonburg’s Rachel Smith.
