Eisenhower edges Saegertown 3-2
RUSSELL — The Eisenhower Knights scored all their goals in the first half en route to a 3-2 Region 4 boys soccer win over the Saegertown Panthers on Tuesday.
The Knights’ Logan Degnan scored at the 30:09 mark of the first half to give his team an early 1-0 lead.
Eisenhower goalkeeper Casey Seymour would get the next goal for the Knights just two minutes later on a kick from near midfield when it just cleared the Saegertown keeper’s head for a 2-0 lead.
Seymour was solid all game for the Knights (3-4-0), fending off 20 shots on goal.
The Knights were not content going into the halftime break up 2-0, as Degnan found an open Rever Caudill, whose kick was good from the right side of the net at the three-minute mark to make it 3-0.
Eisenhower played keep away with the Panthers for most of the second half only allowing goals to Elliot McWright and Levi Gardner.
The Knights were able to hold off a furious effort by the Panthers to avoid overtime.
“I have to give credit to Saegertown, they played hard and made us work for everything,” Eisenhower head coach Mike Taylor said. “I thought Mason Degnan, Ayden Stiteler and Rever Caudill all played well for us.”
