In a Region 2 matchup at Betts Park, Fairview shut out Warren’s girls tennis team 5-0.

“We knew going into this match today it would be one of our biggest challenges yet this season,” said Warren coach Thomas Pellegrino. “I think overall we played well at times, but struggled to piece things together. The matches were competitive across the board, but Fairview was the one pulling out the big points tonight and that was the difference-maker.”

At No. 1 singles, Lucy Harrison was defeated by Hannah Nichols 6-2, 6-2.

At second singles, Grace Carr was defeated by Mackenzie Jewel 6-0, 6-1.

At third singles, Ella Card was defeated by Emiko Munekata 6-1, 6-2.

At first doubles, Alannah Garza and Maddy McDunn were defeated by Delaney and Reagan Gehrlein 6-1, 6-3.

At second doubles, Sarah Harvey and Grace Carlson were defeated by Parinita Satheesh and Jenna Szklenski 6-2, 6-0.

“It was a great day of quality tennis from both teams and we have no reason to hang our heads,” said Pellegrino. “We will learn from it, improve, and get right back to work tomorrow to prepare for another 3A showdown with McDowell Thursday at Betts.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
