NJCAA DIII golf to remain at Chautauqua GC

The NJCAA announced on Tuesday that Jamestown Community College was awarded the NJCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships for the 2026, 2027 and 2028 seasons.

“We are beyond excited and honored to have the very best golfers in DIII come back to Jamestown and the surrounding areas to play for their men’s and women’s golf championships for years to come,” said JCC Athletic Director George Sisson.

Jamestown Community College has served as the host of the NJCAA DIII Men’s Golf Championship at the Chautauqua Golf Club since 2000 and hosted the inaugural DIII Women’s Golf Championship in 2022.

“To know we will see fantastic golf played on an amazing course in our backyard for several more years brings a permanent smile to my face,” added Sisson.

Jamestown will host the 72-hole tournament at Chautauqua Golf Club from June 2-5, 2026, June 1-4, 2027 and June 5-9, 2028.

“Jamestown Community College is really thankful for the support of the NJCAA in awarding us another three years of hosting the Men’s and Women’s DIII Golf Championships,” said Sisson. “2024 marks the 25th consecutive year of hosting this national championship, and it has become a fabric of our community. We are proud of the support of so many community agencies that helped us execute this event, allowing us to show off Chautauqua County. Special thanks to Troy Moss, Kirk Stauffer, and the whole staff at Chautauqua Golf Course for their effort to make the course a national tournament challenge.”

“The committee is excited about Jamestown Community College and Chautauqua Golf Club being the host site for the 2026-28 championships. Chautauqua is the third-longest championship in NJCAA history to be at one site, with only Grand Junction and Hutch having been around longer,” said Tommy Stewart, NJCAA DIII Men’s and Women’s Golf Committee chair. “The Chautauqua Golf Course is a Donald Ross design and provides our men and women golfers the true test of golf. The course has also hosted President Clinton, and Amelia Earhart landed her plane on the 17th fairway. As chair, I look forward to my week at Chautauqua. It is my favorite week of the year.”

Jayhawk golfers see this opportunity to wear green and gold in nationals as a special occasion they can’t get elsewhere.

“Having such a big tournament like nationals in our backyard is something special. From seeing the course evolve throughout the season to what it becomes for nationals, is something truly mind-blowing,” said 2023 JCC graduate Athanasios Bakas. “Having the opportunity to call the national course our home course is something very special and meaningful in itself.”

“Playing for JCC was an incredible feeling, and to have nationals in our own backyard amplified that experience even more,” added Jayhawks nationals participant Maxim Johnson. “Playing with a team that knew how to compete hard and have fun at the same time on our home course gave me the energy to better my game and fight for the team when it mattered.”

The 2025 NJCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Golf Championship will be held at Chautauqua Golf Club from June 3-6.
