ERIE — Warren’s volleyball team is back in the District 10 championship after Tuesday’s 3-1 3A semifinal playoff win over Fort LeBoeuf at Prep’s Hagerty Family Events Center.

The Dragons’ opponent will be Meadville, which Warren shared the Region 5 title with after splitting two regular-season matches.

“We didn’t play our best,” said Warren coach Mike Dolan of the Dragons’ 25-14, 13-25, 25-20, 25-22 win over the Bison. “A lot of unforced errors, especially in the first two sets. Fort LeBoeuf sort of grabbed the momentum toward the end of that first set, and then we had to battle the rest of the way. We didn’t panic, but we definitely have to be better going forward, and I’m confident we will since we have been. Hopefully just some first playoff game jitters.”

Warren swept Fort LeBoeuf twice in its 15-2 regular season.

In this game, Madelyn Nosel had 17 kills, 10 digs and two blocks, and senior setter Lindsay Madigan 31 assists, 14 digs, four aces and four kills. Another senior, Maddy Jones had eight kills, 13 digs and two aces, and the Dragons (as usual) got positive stats from several others in the win. Malysia Sorensen had 16 digs as libero and two aces; Attie Corey four kills and three blocks; Julia Getner three kills and two blocks; and Lilly Newton two kills. Sophie Walker added four digs.

“We definitely have to play cleaner, but we hung on for a tough win,” said Dolan. “Fort LeBoeuf played good defense and also served really tough, but we kept on the attack and fought hard for scramble plays. Serving was key in the sets we won so we showed that we can dig deep and not panic when we have to. We’ll grow from this one and be ready for Thursday.”

Warren plays Meadville at a site and time to be announced. The Bulldogs, led by standout Emma Parks’ 20 kills, swept Harbor Creek in the other 3A semifinal on Tuesday.

Starting at $2.99/week.
