Warren’s volleyball team is 12-0 overall and 9-0 in Region 5 after a 25-16, 25-13, 25-16 sweep of General McLane on Thursday at Warren Area High School.
“We really had to stay on the attack as General McLane is a really good defensive team,” said Warren coach Mike Dolan. “There were a lot of long volleys where we had to keep swinging, and Maddy Jones and Madelyn Nosel did a good job finishing many of those plays.”
Madelyn Nosel (19) and Maddy Jones (14) combined for 33 kills in the three sets.
“Attie Corey gave us a spark in the middle with some nice net play,” said Dolan. “Malysia (Sorensen) had a great game on defense and is really playing well in the back row. As a team we made some really athletic plays keeping balls alive. It was nice to return home to a great crowd and play a tough match heading into next week’s region games.”
Setter Lindsay Madigan had 37 assists and 11 digs; Jones 11 digs and two aces; Nosel seven digs and three aces; Sorensen 29 digs, two aces and two assists; Lauren Fajbik four kills and two blocks; Lilly Newton two kills and three blocks; Corey three kills; and Sophie Walker three digs.
