All-star Dragons
Warren’s Sitler, Norris honored
For the second year in a row, Warren senior center-back Chase Sitler has been named to the Erie Times-News All-District 10 Big School Team. For the second year in a row, both Sitler and junior midfielder Quinn Norris have been voted first-team region all-stars.
Last year, it was Region 4, but Warren moved from Class 2A to 3A and to Region 5 this season. The Dragons were eliminated by Meadville in the District 10 3A playoffs, and the Bulldogs were beaten by General McLane for the D10 title.
This year’s Region 5 first and second teams were full of Lancers and Bulldogs, as well as players from McDowell — teams that finished 1-2-3 ahead of Warren in the region standings. The Trojans were D10 4A champions.
“Quinn and Chase have been so consistent for us for so long,” said Warren coach Steffen Blair. “We’ve leaned on them as players and leaders, and they both have always approached the game the right way. For them to receive this recognition in a region that is loaded with talent is special, and well-deserved.”
Defensively, Sitler had 278 steals on the back line for Warren (10-8). A four-year starter and team captain and Defensive Player of the Year this senior season, he finished his high school career with 691 steals in 69 games.
Norris was named the team’s Most Valuable Player this season with 23 points (seven goals and nine assists). At midfield, the team captain and last year’s Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore led the Dragons with 338 steals in 16 games as a junior this season.
“Despite not receiving the recognition, I felt we had several other boys with seasons worthy of all-region honors,” said Blair. “To name a few, Trey (Carrington) finished the year with 279 steals and was a problem for every team we faced this year; Jack’s (Chapman) 21 goal contributions in 18 games shouldn’t be overlooked; Casey (Rich) added over 250 steals and was a big reason for our defensive consistency over the last two seasons. We have a long list of talented players and they have a lot to be proud of.”
