Anderson to be inducted into CSHOF
Tom Anderson of Russell is one of nine inductees who will comprise the Chautauqua (New York) Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2025 at its banquet in February.
Joining him are Jessica Anderson, Anthony Barone, Stephen Carlson, Mark Edstrom, Ron Frederes, Nick Kahanic, Aaron Leeper and Nick Sirianni.
For Anderson, the induction caps not only a successful career as an accomplished tennis player at the high school, collegiate and amateur levels, but also as the director of the Lakewood (New York) YMCA from 1990-2022.
During that time, he designed, built and managed the indoor soccer center; implemented programs for gymnastics, floor hockey, basketball, volleyball, roller hockey, racquetball, tennis and pickleball; was the director for more than 90 road races, including the Lakewood Firecracker, Battle of the Businesses and the Amy King runs; and was the recipient of the Paul B. Sullivan YMCA Lifetime Service Award. In addition, the tennis courts at the Lakewood YMCA are named in his honor.
Anderson, who retired in December 2022, and the other honorees will be formally inducted at the CSHOF’s 43rd annual induction banquet at the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club on Presidents Day, Feb. 17, 2025. Tickets are available for $50 by calling Chip Johnson at 716-485-6991.
