Eisenhower posts big road win
The Eisenhower boys took the long bus ride to Redbank Valley but the long trip didn’t bother Knight sophomore Will Mandeville as he exploded for a career-high 25 points including six 3-pointers to lead the Knights to a 73-58 non-region win.
The Knights opened up a 16-12 first quarter lead behind Casey Seymour’s 6 points, only to see the home team battle back to get back in front at halftime 30-27.
The second half belonged to the Knights as Mandeville hit 3 3-pointers and Joe Gigliotti added one in the third quarter as the Knights held the home team to just 12 points.
The knights continued their hot shooting and good defense as the home team was forced to foul and Eisenhower made them pay by going 6-8 from the free throw line down the stretch and getting the win 73-58.
Knights head coach Ryan Mangini had high praise for Mandeville’s game, “He had a ton of composure and acted like he’d been in that spot a hundred times. I also think it was a great team win as we had a bunch of guys step up and play great on both sides of the ball, it was a great team win for sure.”
Mandeville led all scorers with 25 points, teammate Austin Hanson continued his hot shooting with 22 points. Redbank was led by Breckin Minich who had 15 points.
In jayvee action, the Knights were defeated 44-38. Eisenhower was led by Gavin Reynolds who had 14 points.
Eisenhower is back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Sheffield for a county matchup.
