With a new head coach in Brandon Gregg, Warren’s swimming and diving team has growing numbers and expectations entering the 2024-25 high school season.

“I have high expectations of our upperclassmen this year,” said Gregg, previously the diving coach. “Most of them I have watched grow up swimming through the YMCA and high school teams. This year’s team philosophy is to enjoy the sport and achieve something new every day. I often tell the swimmers and divers that we will get up early and start the day by accomplishing something hard.

“We have a growing team this year with 26 athletes on the roster,” said the coach, who is assisted by Ronda Retterer and Joe Peterson. “We will be watching our returning swimmers who have previously achieved spots in district and state competitions. Our new recruits this year are very promising. I can already see some development from them in moving into some of our more technical races. The Dragons will be a threat in every event this year.”

Among eight seniors are Brody Alexander, Lindsay Ball, Samantha Caudill, Charlotte Keeports, Katie Krogler, Lexi Paris, Violet Spiegel and Madeline Walker; juniors, Brady Caudill, Alicia Collins, Jennifer Giger, Lucy Harrison, Sarah Harvey, Drake Niemetz and Jacob Retterer; sophomores, Kinzlea Chase, Adison Cullers, Chris Orth, Gracie Page, Emma Peterson and Rose Rioux; and freshmen, Aaron Gausman, Adelaide Keeports, Kaleb Niemetz, Ella Porter and Madeline Wertz.

“The boys team will be competing in AA competition this year while the girls team will be AAA,” said Gregg.

“Growing up, I was on both the swim and dive teams, so I am very excited to be leading both this year with the help of my assistant coach and volunteers,” he said.
