Sheffield suffers mat loss at Ridgway
RIDGWAY — Sheffield’s wrestling team won only once on the mat in a 44-12 loss at Ridgway.
“We had a tough night at Ridgway,” said Sheffield coach Tom Holden. “Wins did not come where I expected them.”
Sheffield started off with a forfeit win before four straight Ridgway wins — three pins — made the score 21-6. Hayden Holden was in a tight match with Ridgway’s Nathan Steger at 139 pounds before two third-period takedowns gave Steger a 9-5 decision.
Alex Marfink got the Wolverines back on the board with a third-period pin at 152, but that’s the last Sheffield would score on the night.
“We need to work on our conditioning,” said Holden. “Next week, we wrestle Bradford and we’re hoping for a little better outcome.”
