Sheffield wrestling goes 2-4 in Grand Island
GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. — Sheffield’s wrestling team was 2-4 on Saturday at the Grand Island Duals at Grand Island High School.
“We were missing a couple starters or I’m sure we would have been at least 4-2,” said Sheffield coach Tom Holden.
Sheffield lost one match by criteria after tying Springville (N.Y.), 30-30.
Sheffield highlights included Hayden Holden and Bryden Letendre each finishing 5-1. Teammates Keaston Letendre, James Wagner and Michael Knapp were each 4-2 overall, and Joby Hilyer finished 3-3.
“Isaac Markey, Travis Childress, Zach Barnes and Garrett Copley all showed a lot of heart and all came away with wins,” said Coach Holden. “All in all, I saw a lot of improvement in all of our wrestlers today. I think we are turning the corner.”
