With one emphatic dunk, Ethan Beers brought the Eagles’ faithful to their feet and added yet one more memory to the team’s storied basketball history.

Beers’ dunk capped off the team’s 10th victory of the season as the Eagles toppled Forest Area 63-21 Wednesday at Youngsville High School.

“I’m proud of the boys this week, beyond measure,” said Youngsville coach Jesse Benton. “They are emotionally charged and leaving it all on the court. We had good ball movement tonight, our shooting was on and the gym was full. It was a great night to be an Eagle.”

Youngsville (10-1) took care of business early as Rylan Benton had 18 points by halftime with David Manning and Braydon Baker also in double figures with 10 points apiece by the break.

Beers’ dunk wasn’t the only time he brought the fans to their feet on Wednesday. The junior buried a 3-pointer at the second-quarter buzzer as the Eagles led 47-8 at halftime.

The Eagles were able to play many of their substitutes during the second half and Uriah Gallegos scored the first varsity points of his career during the fourth quarter.

Benton finished the game with 18 points, Beers finished with 13 points and Manning had 12 points.

Youngsville won the junior varsity game, 33-20. Gallegos finished with 10 points for the winners with Josh Pikna adding 8 and Rodney Rowland 7.

The Eagles next face an important Region 3 test when they host Mercyhurst Prep on Friday at Youngsville High School.
