Big second quarter lifts Warren over Corry 41-32
Warren’s 19-4 second quarter was enough to hold off Corry for a 41-32 non-region win on Monday at Warren Area High School.
After just one first-quarter basket for Warren, Alyssa Farr hit two 3-pointers to lead six Lady Dragon scorers in the lopsided second.
“We needed to find a way to put the ball in the basket,” said Warren coach Jenny Phillips, whose Dragons are 6-5 overall. “I love how all the girls played very unselfish tonight and really worked to try to get the best shot, but sometimes we also need to be a little selfish and find those opportunities to score. I also told them that our defense is what’s going to create our offense and they played excellent defense tonight.”
Warren led 25-18 after three quarters, but after just one field goal in the first three quarters, Peyton Wotorson scored 12 of Warren’s 16 fourth-quarter points. She was 4-for-4 at the free-throw line in the fourth and finished with a team-high 15 points. Emma Roell and Alana Stuart added eight points each in the win.

“Once we got in that defensive groove, they started to have more of that confidence on the offensive end as well,” said Phillips. “I’m super proud of all the girls that played tonight and how they were able to contribute to the win.”
Grace Allen led Corry (5-7) with 11 points.
