Cranberry boys surge past Sheffield 79-45

SHEFFIELD — Twelve players scored for Cranberry in a 79-45 win on Tuesday over Sheffield.

After their first win of the season, the Wolverines jumped out to a 12-6 first quarter, but Cranberry reversed it in the second to take a 23-19 halftime lead.

“I think coming out of a win always lights that fire for the next one,” said Sheffield coach Jordan Copley, whose Wolverines are 1-10 overall. “We just need to keep it lit for four quarters.”

Cranberry (9-4) outslugged Sheffield 31-22 in the third quarter and scored 56 points in the second half to blow out the Wolverines.

Copley said the Wolverines were able to slow Cranberry’s transition until they didn’t.

“Unfortunately, over time, we had some key pieces get into foul trouble and we were unable to match their energy,” he said.

Cole Findlay led Cranberry with 19 points and LaShawn Williams had 19 for Sheffield.
