Harbor Creek tops Warren in nonregion wrestling
Harbor Creek won seven of 11 matches on the mat to defeat Warren’s wrestling team 42-25 on Wednesday in a nonregion match at Warren Area High School.
Wrestling at Class 3A, the Huskies are 14-5 in dual matches this season, while 2A Warren falls to 5-6.
The Dragons won two of the first four matches with Cameron Williams’ 1-0 decision at 139 pounds and Carter Campbell’s technical fall at 152.
Harbor Creek would win the next four matches — two by pin and two by major decision.
Tyson Harkins’ quick pin at heavyweight avenged an earlier loss to Harbor Creek’s Bryan Curry, and Adika Fiscus ended the match with a quick technical fall for Warren.
“We have to believe in ourselves a little more,” said Warren coach Glenn Baldensperger. “We have some kids who have put their time in and when they wrestle someone they know they can beat, it’s a totally different atmosphere on the mat. We will get there. Hats off to Tyson tonight.”
