Ike up to the task
Balanced attack sends Eisenhower to 72-48 victory over Cambridge Springs
RUSSELL — Eisenhower used a balanced offensive attack to defeat Cambridge Springs 72-48 in a boys basketball game Tuesday.
The Knights had four starters in double figures, led by sophomore Austin Hanson, who had 17 points. Gavin Lindemuth added 15, Derek Guiher chipped in 13 and Casey Seymour finished with 11.
Eisenhower opened up a 20-12 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 30-20 at halftime behind Hanson’s 15 points.
The Knights outscored the Blue Devils 24-14 in the third quarter and rolled to the mercy-rule victory.
“The guys did what we asked of them,” Eisenhower head coach Ryan Mangini said. “They played fast in the press and rebounded well. Our young guys off of the bench did a good job stepping up when it was their time.”
Zeek Carson-Smith of Cambridge Springs led all scorers with 23 points.
The Knights will be back in action on Saturday when they welcome the Seneca Bobcats. The junior varsity game starts at 6 p.m. with the varsity contest to follow.
