Ike’s Lindell, coaches ‘proud of these guys’
MEADVILLE — Eisenhower head wrestling coach Jared Lindell asked his team to commit themselves to improving on the mat over the recent Christmas break and Lindell was pleased with their showing over the weekend at the Tool City wrestling tournament.
The Knights finished in seventh place, tied with Warren, and placed eight wrestlers on the podium.
“We finished seventh with only nine guys that were able to be counted in the team’s total scoring,” Lindell said. “We double bracketed two guys, but only one wrestler can count toward a team total per weight class. I thought our guys wrestled really well.”
The Knights were led by Rever Caudill at 114 pounds, who placed second. At 189 pounds, Bryceton Wilkins placed fourth. Ryan Chambers took fifth place at 133 pounds. Huck Fedorchuk and Bryce Coleson at 107 pounds and 189 pounds, respectively, placed sixth. Griffin Williams at 127 pounds placed seventh, as did Wyatt Neal at 133 pounds. Shawn Miller rounded out the scoring for the Knights placing eighth at 121 pounds.
“All of the coaches are proud of these guys, their hard work at practice is starting to pay off and at the right time,” Lindell said. “We have a big tournament in Falconer (N.Y.) coming up; hopefully they keep it going.”
