Jackals split weekend series with Windsor

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The Jamestown Jackals split a pair of Basketball Super League games with the Windsor Express over the weekend at Jamestown Community College’s Physical Education Complex.

On Friday, the Jackals beat Windsor 110-86, but on Saturday the Express won 112-108.

A Davin Miller jumper just over three minutes into the game gave Jamestown an 8-7 lead Friday and the Jackals never trailed after that on their way to a 24-point win.

Deon Stroud led Jamestown with 22 points; Derrick Colter had 15 points; Devante Jamison had 14 points, six rebounds and four steals; and Emmett Duvall had 11 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

Will Brown led Windsor with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Cameron Gaines chipped in 13 points and six rebounds.

On Saturday, Windsor led most of the game before Jamestown’s Zakeem Davis made a 3-pointer with 1:37 remaining to make it a 106-102 game.

After an Express turnover, the Jackals had an opportunity to make it a one-possession game, but Colter missed a 3-point attempt. Jeremy Harris converted a layup to push Windsor’s lead back up to six and Jamestown never got closer than four in the closing minute.

Harris led the Express with 24 points to go along with eight rebounds off the bench, while Latin Davis added 21 points and seven assists.

For the Jackals, Colter had 22 points, while Stroud and Zakeem Davis each had 20.

Jamestown will travel to Sudbury (Ontario) to take on the Five this coming Friday and Saturday.
