Kane beats Sheffield this time

SHEFFIELD — After Sheffield’s boys basketball team topped Kane for its first win of the season, the Wolves rebounded on Friday for a 48-31 victory this time at Sheffield High School.

Kane led 9-7 after one quarter, but a 17-2 second quarter all but put short-handed Sheffield — missing starter Jack Chapman due to injury — away.

“Tough night,” said Sheffield coach Jordan Copley, whose Wolverines have lost four straight since that win at Kane.

The Wolves were 7 of 11 at the free-throw line in the second quarter and 12 of 20 for the game. Sheffield shot just four free throws.

Preston Darr and Eric Novosel combined for 23 of Kane’s 48 points.

Colby Barr led Sheffield with 10 points, Lashawn Williams added 8, and Aamond Bowman 7 in the loss.
