YOUNGSVILLE — The Youngsville Lady Eagles fell just short of flipping the script on Rocky Grove during a 30-26 loss to the Orioles Monday at Youngsville High School.

Earlier this season, Youngsville traveled to Rocky Grove and led at halftime before a huge third quarter lifted Rocky Grove to a 39-20 win. On Monday, Youngsville trailed by 13 at halftime only to use a 14-4 third quarter edge to get back in the game before ultimately coming up short.

Youngsville stayed close early Monday with Riley Robinault scoring the team’s first eight points of the game and Cassidy Britton’s shot closing the gap to 11-10 with 6:10 remaining in the second quarter.

The Orioles would then close the half on a 12-0 run and things looked dire heading into intermission after Robinault left with an injury in the half’s final minutes.

Robinault returned to the court in the third quarter and quickly went to work on taking over the game. The junior scored 14 points in the third quarter and Youngsville got as close as two late in the third.

Perhaps the only thing that went wrong in the third was Robinault picking up her fourth foul with just seconds remaining in the quarter.

The fourth started with a Robinault basket to get the Eagles within one at 27-26, but with 3:39 to play Robinault was charged with her fifth foul and went to the bench for the remainder of the game.

Youngsville’s defense stayed tough and allowed just three points the rest of the way, however, the offense was unable to find the basket and the Eagles had to settle for a close loss.

Robinault finished with 24 points with Britton adding the other two.

Youngsville returns to action Thursday when it travels to Saegertown.
