Warren swim team plans breakfast fundraiser Sunday
The Warren Area High School swimming and diving team is holding a benefit breakfast from 8-10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at the Warren American Legion Post 135.
Breakfast is donated and prepared by the American Legion and you can eat for a donation to the swim team. As well as breakfast, there will be a basket raffle and a 50/50 drawing held.
Prior to moving to the Legion, 41 baskets are currently set up at the Warren YMCA where you can purchase tickets to win. You need not be present to win.
School sports are funded primarily by fundraisers that the athletes participate in organizing. From equipment, meals and awards, team boosters do all they can to raise money to take some of the financial burden off of parents. For the swim team, boosters cover team suits, caps, flippers, kickboards, meals, senior night expenses, awards and end-of-season banquet. The board works to ensure that these expenses are taken care of each year and it cannot be done without the support of the community and by local business owners.
The baskets include numerous gift certificates to use around town, goody baskets from businesses, special homemade items, and more. If interested in getting tickets for the baskets, they are 10 for $5 and can be bought now through Saturday at the Warren YMCA and on Sunday during the breakfast. The drawings will be held at 9:45 a.m. Sunday.
