WARREN — The Youngsville Lady Eagles 5th and 6th grade basketball team earned its first victory of the season Saturday with a 28-14 win over Warren at the Warren County YMCA.

Aubree Huffman led the Eagles with 16 points with Alice Sanford and Haleigh Sproveri adding 6 points apiece. Liz Benjamin and Avery Scott led the winners in the steals department while Huffman and Scott paced the rebounding category.

“Our defense was on it tonight. I’m so impressed with how far these girls have come in a short amount of time,” said Youngsville coach Leslie Lauffenburger. “Offensively, they are moving the ball and looking for open cutters. These girls aren’t going down without a fight.”

The Lady Eagles will host Warren in a rematch of Saturday’s game at 6 p.m. Thursday at Youngsville Elementary School.
