MEADVILLE — Moving on — that’s the goal this time of the wrestling season.

On Saturday, five Dragons moved past the Section 1 2A wrestling tournament to districts, which begin today at Sharon High School.

Warren’s highest qualifier was no surprise in senior Adika Fiscus. He’s 26-8 on the season with 84 career wins for the Dragons, and he’s been here before as a returning regional qualifier.

On Saturday, the 127-pounder breezed into the semifinals before a 13-2 loss to Prep’s Kamdyn Borrero. Fiscus earned a 4-1 decision against General McLane’s Mason McDonald in the consolation semifinals before his third-place match. Ultimately, he lost by a 7-3 decision to Fort LeBoeuf’s Brady Bowers to finish fourth, but advance.

For four of his teammates, they all had to win the seventh-eighth-place match to advance. Joe Krall, Carter Campbell, Cole Fitzgerald, and Ryan Letko all did win, and all did advance.

“4 for 4,” said Warren coach Glenn Baldensperger.

The freshman Fitzgerald was pinned in his first match at 107 pounds before eventually securing a 24-3 technical fall in 4:45 over Eisenhower’s Huck Fedorchuk for seventh.

Letko, a junior, was 3-2 (all five results were pins) at 145 with a seventh-place pin in 1:20 over Girard’s Tucker Gula.

Campbell, a sophomore, finished 3-2 at 152 pounds over the weekend, but the biggest win was 12-5 over Titusville’s Brock Middleton to advance.

The junior Krall lost in the quarterfinals at 215 pounds before two wins, including a second-period pin over Girard’s Jaxson Lagace to advance to today’s D10 2A tourney at Sharon High School.

Starting at $2.99/week.
