Warren swim & dive gets better in loss to McDowell
Despite losses to McDowell on Monday, Warren’s swimmers “are improving seed times for districts and catching the end-of-year 2% time drops to build the postseason team,” according to head coach Brandon Gregg.
In the Lady Dragons’ 111-75 loss to the Trojans, Warren first-place finishes came from Emma Peterson in the 200-meter and 400-meter freestyles, Maddy Walker in the 100-meter backstroke, and Gracie Page in diving, finishing 1-2 with Kinzlea Chase. Warren’s girls 200-meter freestyle relay team secured a district-qualifying time.
The possible 1-2 seeds at districts, Page won diving with 199.5 points and Chase had a season-best 186.9.
“Lexi Paris also had a new PR in the 100-meter butterfly and is one second away from a district qualifier,” said Gregg. “Jen Koppenhafer had a massive two-second drop in her 100 fly as well.
“The stands roared from both teams all night as we had more than a few split-second finishes,” said Gregg, whose boys lost 29-139. “McDowell had sheer numbers on us.”
