Warren’s boys basketball team clinched the Region 5 title before the District 10 playoffs with a 61-48 win over Corry on Friday at Warren Area High School.
Beating Corry by 32 points on Jan. 21, the Dragons picked up where they left off, jumping out to an 18-5 first-quarter lead this time.
“It was a very sharp defensive first quarter, only giving up 5 points and one of those was a banked-in 3-point shot,” said Warren coach Jeff Berdine, whose Dragons finish the regular season on a four-game winning streak. Warren is 17-4 overall after starting the season 1-2, and wins the region with a 13-1 record.
“We should know by lunchtime (today) on what the playoffs will bring,” he said.
On senior night, senior Chase Sitler was 5-of-6 at the free throw line and had 8 points in the first quarter. He finished with a team-high 18 as Corry never recovered.
