EDINBORO — Erie High went on a 19-1 run to defeat Warren’s girls basketball team 43-26 for the District 10 6A championship on Wednesday at General McLane High School.
Alyssa Farr hit a 3-pointer and Warren trailed just 8-7 after one quarter. Tied 11-11 early in the second, Erie went on a 12-1 run to close out the half.
Draya Neavins had 8 points, including 4 for 4 at the free-throw line, and Keasia Person added 5 in Erie’s 15-5 second quarter.
Aubrey Neavins did enough in the second half for Erie to keep a working lead, scoring 12 points in the Royals’ 20-14 half.
Both Draya and Aubrey Neavins and Deaja Williams finished with 12 points apiece, while Warren struggled to get good looks all game.

“I think the frustration was their defense and not allowing us to get the shots and opportunities we wanted,” said Warren coach Jenny Phillips, whose Dragons — led by Farr’s 9 points — end their season 10-13 overall.
Erie (11-7) advances to the PIAA 6A playoffs.
“We knew it was going to be a physical game and prepared for it just as we had when we played them before,” said Phillips. “I think what was hard to overcome was the lack of calls due to the physicality. One thing I stressed prior to the game was that we can’t worry about the no-calls from the refs, rather you keep playing hard until that whistle blows. The other hard part is trying to stay positive and focused when we get frustrated.”
After losing to Erie 48-28 in late January to open their region schedule, the Dragons turned their season around at the end, winning four of their last five games, including a 58-55 victory over Erie the second time around.
In the playoffs, Warren’s defense showed up. Farr held Draya Neavins to just one bucket in the second half. Neavins averages 15 points and had 17 against Warren last game.
“I can always rely on her for her defense,” said Phillips of Farr, one of three seniors with Alana Stuart and Emily Davidson. “I know I can always count on her to frustrate whoever she is on.
“The girls returning next year certainly show promise and I can’t wait to get back into the gym with them and keep working and improving on their skills,” added Phillips. “As for my three seniors, it has been an absolute pleasure to be with them as an assistant coach for three years and then as a head coach this year. They truly are such fine young ladies and hold a place in my heart for sure. They will be missed by their teammates and especially me. I know whatever the future holds for them, they will be successful.”
