Youngsville boys fall to Lakers 79-38
ERIE — Playing without one of its top three scoring threats in Braydon Baker, Youngsville fell behind big early and never recovered in a 79-38 loss to Mercyhurst Prep on Tuesday.
The Lakers jumped out to a 36-9 lead after a quarter and outscored the Eagles 17-2 in the third quarter as the region-leaders improved their record to 14-5 overall with a perfect 7-0 Region 3 record.
Youngsville (12-5, 3-4 Region 3) was led by the 18 points of Rylan Benton with David Manning adding 8 points of his own. Freshman Brendon Gallegos scored the first 5 varsity points of his career as well for the Eagles.
Youngsville returns to action Tuesday when it plays in its final home game in school history against the rival Eisenhower Knights in what promises to be an emotional night.
