After a 14-1 win to start the season, Warren coach Carissa Stuart would have liked a little more breathing room in the Lady Dragons’ second game. After giving up a four-run lead to trail 5-4, Warren’s softball team came from behind for a 6-5 walk-off win on Tuesday at Lady Dragons Field.

Tied entering the bottom of the seventh inning, Emily Davidson reached on an error with one out, Tori Solberg moved her to third base with a two-out base hit between shortstop and third, and Riley Cull was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

“There was an outside pitch that looked like it got away, which pulled Emily off the bag enough at third that the catcher made a play on her,” said Warren coach Carissa Stuart. “She got into a pickle that involved a few throws down and back until it got away from the third baseman and (Davidson) scored.”

Warren moves to 2-0 with the non-region win and next travels to Oil City on Saturday.

The Dragons jumped out to a 4-0 first-inning lead with five walks and a hit by pitch around a base hit from Davidson.

Corry pulled to within three runs on Sadye Dyne’s solo home run to start the second inning, and two Warren errors helped the Beavers pull even in the fifth.

Corry went ahead on a passed ball in the sixth inning.

“Again, it’s a ‘W,’ and I’ll take it any day,” said Coach Stuart. “Anytime you can go ahead, get behind, and come back is a good thing. But we definitely need to work on being a little bit more disciplined hitting. Defensively, we started out strong; Peyton Hagg made a good catch in left field along with Tori Solberg in right field. I would prefer to go error free. I’m not a fan of giving up free bases.”

Warren tied the game back up in the bottom of the sixth when Danika Abbey led off with a single and later scored on a bases-loaded walk.

Alana Stuart shut Corry down in the top of the seventh inning to set up the walk-off. Stuart allowed four hits and one walk. She struck out 12 in the Dragons’ victory.

Six batters reached base twice for Warren; none with more than one hit.
