Youngsville track and field hoping for district qualifiers

Youngsville returns a pair of district qualifiers and will look to add even more in 2025 when its track & field season gets underway Thursday at Sheffield Area High School.

“Much like last year we are not focusing as much on team results,” said Youngsville coach John Victor. “We will be trying to send as many individuals as possible to the District 10 meet in May.”

The Eagles will compete in Region 4 this season against the likes of Warren, Eisenhower, Union City and Seneca.

Youngsville enters the new season with most of its team intact, having graduated just three seniors from last year’s team, including Cody Jespersen, Thomas Jukes and Dominic Sproveri.

In 2025, the Eagles boys team returns two District 10 qualifiers from a season ago in junior Ethan Beers and sophomore Chase Myers. Beers placed in three jumping events last season, finishing fourth in the high jump, fifth in the long jump and sixth in the triple jump.

All told, Youngsville’s boys roster includes two seniors, eight juniors, two sophomores and six freshmen.

The seniors include Kale Jespersen (throwing) and Michael Raffanello (throwing) while the deep junior class boasts the aforementioned Beers (jumping), Tydus Chase (throwing), Logan Dougherty (throwing), Jack Johnson (sprints/jumping), Dylan Bartlett (throwing), Graeme Minnis (throwing), Connor Minnis (throwing) and Rodney Rowland (sprints).

Sophomores on the team are Myers (hurdles/javelin) and Ollie Boozer (jumping) while freshmen include Aiden Eger (sprints/javelin), Brendon Gallegos (sprints/javelin), Collin Montgomery (throwing), Caleb Shafer (hurdles/throwing), Aiden Snyder (distance) and Wyatt Trojanowski (sprints).

On the girls side of things, the team’s lone returning District 10 qualifier is junior Riley Robinault. Robinault placed fourth in the high jump at the 2024 D-10 meet and also competed in the long jump.

The Lady Eagles roster for 2025 contains two seniors, four juniors, three sophomores and two freshmen.

Cassidy Britton (distance) and Kiana Stanbro (distance) are the seniors out this season while Robinault (jumping/sprints), Mia Battko (distance), Natalie Ross (mid-distance) and Jamie Kay (throwing) make up the junior class.

Sophomores include Sarah Blauser (throwing/sprints), Kinzlea Chase (hurdles/jumping) and Lilly Jespersen (hurdles) while the two newcomers are freshmen Shay Reilly (sprints/jumping) and Katie Upton (sprints/jumping).

“We will have to overcome the aches and pains and work hard this season,” said Victor. “If we can do that and all athletes are progressing in their events and having fun, it will be a successful season.”
