Big 30 Hoops Classic

Warren’s Chase Sitler scored 13 points in Team Pennsylvania’s 103-81 win over New York on Sunday in the 2025 Big 30 Boys Basketball Classic at Portville High School.

Team Pennsylvania coach Aaron Straub was one of three individuals honored during the event, inducted into the Big 30 Hall of Fame. Straub has coached Elk County Catholic’s boys basketball team to 988 wins over 43 seasons, and has over 1,000 wins there both as a boys head coach and girls head coach (for two seasons). The other two inductees into the Big 30 hall were Ron Caskey, former girls basketball coach at Port Allegany, and Mickey Viglietta, former basketball coach at Franklinville.

In the girls’ game, Coudersport’s Emilee Ruter hit a deep 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Pennsylvania to a 51-49 win prior to the boys’ game.

Postponed

The Warren baseball game with Meadville scheduled for Monday was postponed and rescheduled for 4 p.m. today at Legion Field. Junior varsity will follow the varsity game.

There will also be a home Warren softball game vs. Erie High at 4 p.m. today at Lady Dragons Field.
