Warren’s boys tennis team stays unbeaten with Region 2 sweep of Harbor Creek on Monday at Betts Park.
“Every matchup in this region is going to be competitive this year and today provided a true test for our singles players with each match going the distance,” said Warren coach Thomas Pellegrino.
Adam Strandburg clawed his way back from a set down to defeat Owen Drabic 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
“This was a great match against two quality players and even better athletes,” said Pellegrino. “Each set always came down to one break of serve. Both of these guys are big hitters and breaking didn’t come easy. Adam was able to key in on the big points in set two and three and come out on top.”
Lucas Thrift defeated Lexa Maloney 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.

Brody Alexander got off to a slow start but brought things together in sets two and three, defeating Jack Drahuskak 1-6, 6-1 6-4.
“It was nice to see all the guys dig deep and make the necessary adjustments to come out with some hard-fought wins,” said Pellegrino.
In doubles, the pair of Jack Lynds and Ben Scott defeated Chloe Knepper and Abby Michali 6-1, 6-2.
At second doubles, Jaxon Thrift and Owen Baldensperger defeated Blake Nguyen and Conner Ferrick 6-1, 6-1.
“Our doubles teams continue to be where we shine and coach Tarpenning and I have been impressed with how they approach each match,” said Pellegrino. “All four of our guys took care of business and helped take some pressure off our singles players by getting us a 2-0 lead going into all of the third sets.”
