Eagles’ Benton is district and region all-star

RYLAN BENTON
Youngsville sophomore basketball standout Rylan Benton was named to the District 10 all-star team as well as the Region 3 First Team when postseason honors were released earlier this week.
Benton helped the Youngsville boys to a runner-up finish in District 10 Class A field this season as well as the Eagles’ first PIAA playoff appearance since the 2019-2020 season.
The 5-foot-10 guard starred for the Eagles in the school’s final season in program history. Benton finished with 400 points — more than 18 points a game — including 59 3-pointers and a season-high of 35 points against Erie Prep Academy on Jan 29. In 22 games for the 13-10 Eagles, Benton reached double figures in all but two outings.
His coach — and father, Jesse Benton — said he is extremely proud of Rylan’s accomplishments as well as the hard work he’s put in to get to where he’s at today.
