Eisenhower no-hit in loss to Lakers

ERIE — Eisenhower traveled to Mercyhurst Prep on Wednesday for a chilly afternoon baseball game and were no-hit in an 11-1 setback.

With the temperature hovering near 40 degrees and a brisk wind, the Knights jumped out to a 1-0 lead to start the game when Wyatt Neall walked and later scored on a wild pitch.

Unfortunately for the Knights that early run would be their only one of the game, while the Lakers added runs in each of the first three innings to take a 3-1 lead.

Mercyhurst Prep used the fourth inning to put the game out of reach when it plated seven runs.

Griffin Williams started and took the loss for the Knights, who reached base via two walks.

“One bad inning hurt us,” Eisenhower head coach Alan Jackson said. “It was a bitter cold day. It was the first time on turf for our freshmen and it took a little while for them to get used to. Our defense was solid. I’m proud of the effort. We will regroup and get ready for Corry.”

That road game will be played at 4 p.m. Monday.

Starting at $2.99/week.
