Ike sweeps Youngsville in track & field

YOUNGSVILLE — Eisenhower swept both the boys and girls track & field meets with Youngsville held on a beautiful spring Thursday at Eisenhower High School.

The Knights were 105-38 winners in the girls competition as well as 87-49 in the battle between the boys.

Rosalie Rondeau was a four-time winner for the Lady Knights, earning victories in the 100 meters in 13.22 seconds and the 200 in 28.18 seconds. She also took first place in the long jump (14 feet, 2.25 inches) and triple jump (29-11).

Laney Belcher was the Knights’ second four-time winner. She earned an individual win in the 400 (1:09.1) as well as being a part of three winning relay teams. Belcher won the 3,200 relay with Izzy Grosch, Peyton Kellogg and Emily Grosch, the 1,600 relay with Emily Grosch, Kellogg and Lainey Font and the 400 relay with Leah Morrison, Font and Marissa Gourley.

Gourley was also a two-time winner in the hurdles events, winning the 100 hurdles in 17.84 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 57.8 seconds. Emily Grosch ran a winning time of 2:44 in the 800.

Eisenhower also had wins in the field events against Youngsville. Sophia Martin cleared 9-2 to win the pole vault and set a new school record in the process.

Teammate Gracie Tomassoni was the winner in the javelin with a toss of 68-11.

For the Lady Eagles, Cassidy Britton and Sarah Blauser were each two-time winners. Britton won both the 1,600 (6:02) and the 3,200 (13:36) while Blauser won the shot put (30-3.5) and discus (71-8). Youngsville also got a victory from Riley Robinault in the high jump clearing 5-0.

Eisenhower’s boys track & field team was led by a pair of four event winners in Joe Gigliotti and Joe Mistretta. Individually, Gigliotti was a winner in the 1,600 (4:54) and 3,200 (12:57) while Mistretta had wins in the 400 (1:00.44) and 800 (2:30).

Mistretta and Gigliotti also teamed up with Michael Palmieri and Alex Lund to win the 4×800 relay as well as with Easton Fitzgerald and Bryceton Wilkins to win the 4×400 relay. A sweep of the relay events was concluded by a win from Ryan Chambers, Fitzgerald, Wilkins and Palmieri in the 4×100 relay.

Fitzgerald would add a win in the 200 (25.3 seconds) while teammate Seth Jensen was a double winner in the field, claiming victory in both the shot put (36-2) and discus (92 feet).

All three of Youngsville’s individual winners on Thursday won multiple events, led by the three wins from Chase Myers. Myers swept the 100 hurdles (17.38) and 300 hurdles (45.03) before also qualifying for districts in the high jump with a winning height of 5-9.

Ethan Beers was a winner in the long jump (19-1) and triple jump (40-11) while Aiden Eger won the 100-meter dash in 12.44 seconds and the javelin with a winning toss of 137-10.
