Lady Dragons claim Region 6 victory

ERIE — After two lopsided losses, Warren’s softball team bounced back with an 8-2 Region 6 win on Thursday at Erie High.

The Lady Dragons jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings and starting pitcher Alana Stuart held Erie down the rest of the way.

The senior threw a complete game, striking out 13 batters without a walk. She allowed five hits and one earned run.

Offensively, the second, third and fourth hitters in the order combined for seven of Warren’s nine hits.

Alexis Jones was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs, Emma Gray was 2-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, and Stuart was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Danika Abbey and Laken Carroll added base bits and RBIs. Carroll also walked twice and Abbey once.

“I like it when we’re aggressive in the batter’s box and go after strikes,” said Warren coach Carissa Stuart. “When we do that, we have better results. We stranded too many runners on base, though; (I) would have liked to have seen us get a couple more hits. We’re flipping over to the second half of the season, so I’m happy to start it off with a win.”

Warren improved to 7-3 overall and 4-3 in the region. Erie is 0-7 in Region 6.

In junior varsity play, Tori Solberg hit a double for Warren and teammates Riley Cull, Mallery Valez, Peyton Hagg, and Sophia Fromknecht added base hits. Hagg pitched four innings, striking out four.

Starting at $2.99/week.
