McDowell hands Dragons another loss

McDowell scored six first-inning runs en route to a 16-0 five-inning Region 6 win at Warren on Thursday at Old Legion Field.

The Trojans hit well with 14 base hits, and McDowell also walked eight times and reached on a hit by pitch.

Still, Warren committed just two errors and hit the ball harder, but just couldn’t capitalize.

“The score doesn’t show it, but we were much better today,” said Warren coach John White. “We had a mindset change and understood that the game is too hard to linger on bad things that happen. We were much more confident at the plate, in the field, and on the mound. They’re a really good-hitting team, but I’m extremely happy with how we carried ourselves regardless of the score. Don’t skip out on us just yet. A la Dave Parker, the boys are ready to make some noise.”

The top four batters had base hits for Warren, and seven of nine Dragons in the lineup reached base. Eli Snyder reached twice via hit and walk.

Max Orefskie was 4-for-4 with a double and four RBIs for McDowell, which won its fifth game in a row. The Trojans are 6-2 overall and 4-0 in Region 6; Warren is 0-6 and 0-2.

Starting at $2.99/week.
