Warren’s track and field teams “had a strong showing” in a Region 4 sweep of Eisenhower on Tuesday at Warren Memorial Field.
The Lady Dragons won 16 of 18 events in a 118-32 win and Warren’s boys won 114-36 to each move to 2-0 “against some tough competition from a very good Eisenhower team,” said Warren coach Kevin Dustin. “They have a good group of kids and, since everyone already knows each other, it was good to just compete and push each other. I know we had some extra events we qualified in for districts and they did, too. We look to keep up strong performances against the region teams as we push for both a girls and boys region championship.”
In the girls’ meet, Warren winners included Adison Cullers in the 300-meter low hurdles (50.39), and by a 10th of a second in the 100-meter high hurdles (17.61) over Eisenhower’s Marissa Gourley; Madelyn Nosel in the 100 meters (13.55); Morgan Alexander in the 1,600 meters (5:43.11) — going 1-2-3 with teammates Riley Evan and Emma Peterson — and in the 3,200 meters (12:20.03) — again 1-2-3 with Peterson and Evan; Lilly Newton in the 400 (1:03.61) and high jump (5-01); Leona Hovan the 800 (2:27.25); Lindsay Madigan in javelin (102-04) and triple jump (33-06); Zoe Rodgers in discus (89-02); and Attie Corey in shot put (28-02-1/2).
