Unbeaten Fort LeBoeuf downs Lady Dragons 14-0
RUSSELL — Fort LeBoeuf softball stayed unbeaten on Thursday with a 14-0 five-inning win over Warren at Werner Park.
The game was switched to Eisenhower softball’s home field due to wet field conditions at Lady Dragons Field, but Fort LeBoeuf didn’t mind, improving to 8-0 overall and 4-0 in Region 6.
“I knew it was going to be a good game, but our pitching got away from us, and we fell behind in the count too soon and let the pitcher have the advantage way too many times (offensively),” said Warren coach Carissa Stuart, whose Dragons are 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the region. “Games like this happen, and we just need to learn from it and move on.”
Ibree Rodgers homered in the Bison’s three-run top of the first, and Lillian McKinney tripled in a fourth run in the second inning.
Fort LeBoeuf added a nine-run fourth inning after chasing Warren starting pitcher Alana Stuart. McKinney homered in that inning and finished 5-for-5 in the win. Senior pitcher Kiernan Skelton earned the shutout win with nine strikeouts.
Stuart had two of Warren’s five base hits in the loss.
