Unbeaten Warren track sweeps host Union City
UNION CITY — Warren’s track and field teams earned their second Region 4 sweep of the week with wins at Union City on Thursday.
The Lady Dragons remain unbeaten in the region with a 119-31 win, and Warren’s boys stay undefeated with a 105-45 victory.
“We had a good showing at Union City tonight,” said Warren coach Kevin Dustin. “Both boys and girls came away with good wins to stay undefeated in the region. Lilly Newton had a huge jump in high jump today where she tied the current school record at 5-5. The team as a whole is really coming together and we are excited for the championships coming up.”
In addition to Newton’s first-place finish for the Lady Dragons, tying Missy Larme’s school record set in 1987, Adison Cullers won the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, Lindsay Madigan long jump, triple jump, and javelin, Leona Hovan the 800, Morgan Alexander the 1,600, Riley Evan the 3,200, Grace Carr the discus, Attie Corey the shot and Gracie Page the pole vault. All three Warren relays finished first.
Warren’s boys also won all three relays. Individual winners included Sam Lindell in the 800, 1,600, and 3,200 — ahead of second-place Cole Fitzgerald in the 800 and 3,200, Tommaso Clemente in the 100 and 200 — ahead of Kahle Kuzminski’s time in both, Max Spiegel in high jump and triple jump, and Chase Sitler (400), Adon Maier (110 hurdles) and Cam Williams (300 hurdles).
