Victor: Youngsville ‘did very well’ at track meet in Kane

KANE — It’s been difficult for the Youngsville track & field team to outduel Mother Nature this season, but the Eagles did just that in a dual meet with Kane on Tuesday.

Despite dealing with a long gap between meets, the Youngsville boys and girls track & field teams each held their own during competition with the Wolves.

“Coming out of a long break, the kids did very well,” said Youngsville coach John Victor. “We still have a lot of work to do, but we are heading in the right direction.”

Junior Riley Robinault was a four-time winner for the Eagles on Tuesday. She sprinted her way to wins in the 100 meters (13.65 seconds) and 200 meters (28.23) before leaping her way to additional wins in the high jump (4-10) and long jump (16-2).

Robinault wasn’t the team’s only winner with Cassidy Britton scoring a win in the 3,200 meters with a run of 12:45.03 and Kinzlea Chase claiming the 300-meter hurdles in 59.73 seconds.

A busy day for Britton also included a pair of runner-up finishes in the 800 meters and 1,600 meters and Chase was also second in the 100-meter hurdles. Sarah Blauser earned a strong second in the shot put and Shay Reilly finished third in the long jump for the Eagles.

For the boys, Ethan Beers was a three-time winner, sweeping the jumping events. Beers won the high jump at 5-10, the long jump at 20-3 and the triple jump at 42-6.5.

Other winners for Youngsville included Aiden Snyder, who took victory in both the 800 meters (2:53.79) and 3,200 meters (14:02.21), Aiden Eger, who won the javelin with a throw of 133-0, and Chase Myers, who blistered the field in the 300-meter hurdles with a winning run of 44.85.

Second-place finishes went to Snyder in the 1,600 meters, Collin Montgomery in the 800 meters and Myers in the 110-meter hurdles. Caleb Shafer had a pair of third-place finishes (200 meters, long jump), Ollie Boozer was third in the high and triple jumps, Kale Jespersen was third in the shot put and Brendon Gallegos was third in the 400 meters.

Youngsville shouldn’t have to wait as long for its next action as it is scheduled to travel to Eisenhower on Thursday.

Starting at $2.99/week.
