Warren baseball falls to Corry 10-3

Rome wasn’t built in a day and it wasn’t built in seven innings either.

Corry’s four-run fourth inning broke a 3-3 tie, and the host Beavers went on to a 10-3 non-region win over Warren on Saturday.

Corry took advantage of five Warren errors and held the Dragons scoreless from the third inning on to improve to 2-4 overall.

“We should have done a much better job in a number of situations that’ll be second nature to us later on,” said Warren coach John White, whose Dragons are 0-4. “We need to get rid of some bad habits and move some things around to find the right combination to start gaining some momentum. It’s tough to do when you get outside one day, then have to spend the next four days inside. Regardless, that’s no excuse and we need to overcome that. We’ll take a look at it…, find our weak spots, then it’s on to the next one.”

Warren starting pitcher Felix Valencia allowed seven runs (three earned) on two hits and seven walks in 3-2/3 innings. He struck out five. Charlie Blum relieved Valencia, allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits over 2-1/3 innings. He struck out three.

Offensively for Warren, Valencia had two of Warren’s three hits. Zane Carlson had two RBI and Jacob Franklin one in the loss.

Starting at $2.99/week.
