Warren boys tennis moves to 3-0

OIL CITY — Warren’s boys tennis team is 3-0 after a 5-0 win on Monday at Oil City.

At top singles, Adam Strandburg defeated Jackson Dilks, 6-2, 6-2.

At second singles, Lucas Thrift defeated Gabe Loughran, 6-4, 6-1.

Jaxon Thrift defeated Jaxson Klapec 6-1, 6-1 at third singles.

In doubles, the Warren pair of Jack Lynds and Ben Scott defeated Sawyer Greene and Carter O’Dell, 6-1, 6-0. Warren’s Owen Baldensberger and Bill Bennett defeated Ashton Wenner and Jordan Gofses, 6-1, 6-2.

“We were just happy to get this match in today,” said Warren coach Thomas Pellegrino. “We beat the rain and, although it got as low as 40, the boys looked good on court and played some of their best tennis. Everyone moved well from the start, played aggressive, and used this to gain some momentum going into three key region matchups this week against Fairview, Meadville, and McDowell.”

Finn Ordiway, Collin Ellis, Grady Corey, Josh Westover, and Elliot Striker were victorious in junior varsity play.

The Dragons next face longtime rival Fairview on Wednesday at Betts Park.

“Traditionally, these have been highly competitive and always come down to the wire,” said Pellegrino. “We feel confident in our squad this year and will get a good practice in to prepare.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
