Warren boys tennis team posts shutout win over Southwestern

LAKEWOOD, N.Y. — Warren’s boys tennis team is 6-0 after a 5-0 win over Southwestern on Tuesday at the Lakewood Family YMCA.

At top singles, Adam Strandburg defeated Chase Haaksma, 6-0, 6-4.

At second singles, Lucas Thrift defeated Nolan Lefler, 6-1, 6-0.

With three doubles matches, Jack Lynds and Ben Scott defeated Matt Resia and Miles Movre, 6-1, 6-3, at first doubles.

At second doubles, Jaxon Thrift and Owen Baldensperger defeated Sam Livingston and Calvin Gesing, 6-2, 6-0.

At third doubles, Brody Alexander and Finn Ordiway defeated Hunter Smith and Oliver Peterson, 6-0, 6-0.

“This was a nice win today and a fun matchup as we got the opportunity to play the New York small school format of two singles and three doubles, giving us the opportunity to start eight instead of the usual seven,” said Warren coach Thomas Pellegrino. “Everyone came ready to play and grabbed some nice wins to gain some momentum going into our key region matchups with Mercyhurst Prep, McDowell, and Cathedral Prep.”

Next up, Warren travels to Grove City on Friday, and the Dragons will host Mercyhurst Prep in Region 2 at 11 a.m. Saturday at Betts Park.

Starting at $2.99/week.
