Warren girls move to 4-0

Warren’s softball team scored 10 runs over the first two innings and held on for a 10-5 Region 6 win over Meadville on Friday at Lady Dragons Field.

The Dragons trailed 2-0 before Alana Stuart’s three-run home run gave Warren the lead in the bottom of the first.

The Dragons later scored six runs — all with two outs — in the bottom of the second inning. Stuart and Alexis Jones had consecutive doubles and Peyton Hagg and Danika Abbey later singled in the inning.

“I like that we came out strong,” said Warren coach Carissa Stuart, whose Dragons are 4-0. “Putting numbers on the board right away is huge. However, we need to find ways to continue scoring throughout the game. Everyone in the lineup contributed tonight.”

Alana Stuart finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs. She was just a single short of the cycle. Stuart, Jones, and Emma Gray scored twice each in the win.

Stuart struck out 13, including the game’s final out with two runners left on. Only one of the five runs allowed was an earned run.
