Janet R. Flasher
Janet R. Flasher, 77, of Deer Run Road, Sugar Grove, Pa., died Thursday, April 1, 2021, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 25, 1943, in Corry, Pa., a daughter of the late Leslie and Betty Crane Wilkinson.
Janet was raised and educated in Corry, Pa., and graduated from Corry Area High School. She attended the Cosmetology Academy in Erie, Pa., and operated a small hair studio out of her house. Janet also worked for the Rouse Home in Youngsville, Pa., as a nurse’s aide for several years and later was a care taker for the elderly. Janet’s main priority was taking care of her family and even in her last days, she was worrying about those who visited her. She had a contagious smile and when she laughed, you laughed.
She attended the Youngsville Free Methodist Church and was a member of the Corry Moose Lodge Chapter 717, Corry VFW Post No. 264 Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion in Youngsville, Pa., and the Abate Motorcycle Club in Warren, Pa.
Janet enjoyed singing karaoke, and her flowers and her many bird houses and solar lights around her home.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death on Jan. 8, 2003, by her husband Howard B. Flasher whom she marred on Oct. 19, 1974, in Busti, N.Y.; a son, Leslie “LeRoy” Flasher in infancy and a stepson, James Flash-er.
Janet is survived by a daughter, Melissa L. Flash-er of Sugar Grove, Pa.; a son, Howard “Ben” Flasher and his wife Jessica of Pittsfield, Pa.; three sisters, Linda Purdey and her husband Carl of Elyria, OH, Sally Watrous and her husband Larry of Clymer, N.Y., and Melody Wilkinson and her companion Chuck Mehnert of Pittsburgh, Pa.; two brothers, David Wilkinson of Corry, Pa. and Larry Wilkinson and his wife Judy of Spring Creek, Pa.
Also surviving are six grandchildren: Cameron Flasher and his fiance Bryanna, Auston Flasher, Autum Burkett, Jamie Burkett, Robert Burkett and Hunter Stow and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of the funeral service there at 12 noon. Rev. Kathy Thompson will officiate. Due to CDC regulations, masks and social distancing will be required.
The service may be viewed live on the Bracken Funeral Home page starting at 12 noon. Burial will be at in West Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Pa., at a later date.
